Taaa Daaah!!!

Well this is not the best pic of the palace, but will have to do for the moment!

The Next Step!!

Once that decision was made there was no stopping David the builder to transform this shed that looked like a garage! The locals were wondering how we were going to get our car into the garage, as no garage door was in view!! There was and still is a double door, but only one side gets opened and a small window, which was moved to the outer side so at least the water can be seen if I need to have a look outside while working inside!

Once the concrete floor had dried, David got to, with lining and insulating "the shed", it was very exciting to see the transformation. There are two large panels of laser lite in the roof so there is a lot of natural light! David kept having digs at me cause inside the house we have a white bathroom, laundry and kitchen, I found it was safer to pick white and then can change the colours of the "moveable" things in case I regretted choosing a colour later on. He kept on about me not being "creative" and "daring" with choosing colours in the renovations, I needed to use some colour. Mind you he had in his house in the kitchen, red walls and black benchtops!! Looks great but not for me!!

So when the time came for the painting of "the shed" I came home with a "colour". A light mauvy colour and for the concrete floor an auberginey colour!!!!! Well can you imagine the reaction???? """PURPLE!!!!!!!!!""" he said, you have to be kidding I am not going to paint your shed PURPLE!!!!!!!!! Well he gave in and painted it for me walls and floor even though time was running out. Probably felt sorry for me cause, when I did some painting I was so slow and ended up in so much pain anyway. Paul's comment was " you have to be joking IT IS PINK!!!!!" So then David started calling it "THE PURPLE PALACE" and it stuck!

Once the paint dried, Gerard could not wait to get my stuff out of the house! I wanted to put it in gradually so that I could make a place for everything as it went in! Well that was fine, all of my furniture from Rowville fitted in perfectly with an extra cupboard or two, but the computer and its table etc. would not fit, so that has stayed in the second bedroom. Gerard wanted to have something of mine in the house so that he would at least see me now and then!!! lol!

Thank goodness the boys were there to help move the furniture in. I started to put stuff in places I wanted them to go, but in the end I lost control cause stuff in the house had to be moved around when David wanted to gutter the kitchen and all the boxes from the kitchen contents had to go into the second bedroom which meant what I had in there had to go into the P.P. The house here is very small, we did have four bedrooms in Rowville, two of them was my work room, we had a wall taken out between them to make it bigger. Also had a large storage shed outside. But when we moved here we had a carport, a tiny garden shed that would just fit a lawn mower in and two bedrooms, lounge, kitchen, laundry, bathroom and toilet and a small front entry leading into the kitchen and a verandah out the back with no shelter. You should have been here when it rained for the first time!!!!!! OMG......The rain came in at every angle, the boxes in the carport, stacked roof high got wet, my stamping stuff!!!!!!, the water was rising and here we were at three in the morning trying to cover up the boxes. I was in such a rage and in tears, all I could think of was my stuff!!!

Gradually Gerard had his way and my things were slowly piling up in the Palace and the house was getting emptier and emptier of my stuff, to his delight.. and to my frustration. What a mess.

I have eight powerpoints, it is so wonderful.. No more piggy backing of appliances thank goodness.

One thing David and I could not agree on was the lighting. He insisted having eight downlights would be plenty of light for me, but I wanted to have some flourescent lights installed knowing how much light one needed for our type of work. Well he got his way and then found out how wrong he was, but he did not have time to put up the fluro's. I have got some but am still waiting to have them installed! (Finding Tradies here is not easy and then to get them to do some work for you!!!!) I was so spoilt having David doing our work, cause he could do EVERYTHING!, just mention something and hey presto it was done. Nothing was too hard for him to do. For example I had moved in all of my plastic drawers holding my stamps and had them all put together so I could use them as a work bench and he took one look at them and suggested I needed a large piece of timber laid across the top of them, moving the drawers apart so that I could have a stool to sit on while working and have room underneath so my knees would not hit the drawers!!!! OH YES!!!! MY TYPE OF GUY!!!!! The next day, there was my table top and by the afternoon it was cut to size and the edges all rounded and smooth and placed on top of the drawers!!!!!!! JUST LIKE THAT.. Can you imagine how I felt!!!!!! I was in LUUUURRVE with this man's skills!!!!!!!! So easy, why couldn't my DH do that??????? As I said I had been spoilt having him around doing our renovations. I was sorry to see him go! He has moved up north to Byron Bay if anyone needs a good builder to do some work!!!!!

Well as time has gone on, I have had installed a reverse cycle air conditioner, which has been great for the cooler months so far, the test will be the warmer months.

I was getting frustrated in the Palace cause the telly would not work so well with the ears! The tin was the problem. I did not want to have a T.V. aerial put on the shed cause then it did not look like "just" a storage shed any more.. But I had to give in and bought a small one. O.K. so now I have a T.V aerial that needs to be put on top of the Palace!!!!! Holes needed drilling through the walls, cords needed to be put through the holes, the antenna needed to be attached to something!!!!! HHEEELLLLPPP!!!!!

PAUL!!!!!! TO THE RESCUE!!!!!! Thank goodness, I still had another great!! handy person to call on!!!! Paul ended putting up the aerial for me and how wonderful it is to have the telly with such a great picture. Thank you so much Paul! He has also helped with a lot of other "little" things that needed doing about the place, like....... ahem..... encouraging me to buy a "budget" priced lap top to have in the Palace!!!!! weeell we finally got it to work after finding out that the "tin" did not let the internet work on it, so a couple of wireless connections and more cable connections we have internet in the Palace!!!! All I need now is a comfy couch to doze on and I am set!!! lol!

Paul came to the rescue with the verandah as David was not going to have enough time to do that as well, so I now have this fabulous verandah around the back and side of the house, with a roof and windows. It has made such a difference to the house, added so much more room onto the place and at one end we have part fly wired off for the cats! yep I know spoilt cats, but it keeps them away from the birds and connects to their outdoor area too.

I had been driving past a carpet clearance place a lot and decided to stop one day and have a look in. So in we went and asked if they had any "Purple" carpet!!!! ""PUURPLE" said the guy. Apparently purple carpet for him was hard to get, but they had got a roll in and hey presto it was perfect for me. Four metres wide, perfect, so we bought four metres of it, did not want to press my luck saying I wanted six metres to do the whole floor!!!!! At first we were getting only two!! So I did well. So now I have some gorgeous carpet. What a difference it makes. So now the job to do was find a fine day and move three quarters of the contents of the Palace outside to put in the carpet!

Well the carpet has been put in now, what an ordeal!!! Almost everything had to come out to lay the carpet on the concrete! It took us about two hours to take almost everything out and then nearly five hours to put it all back in, by this time Gerard, Tamyka and I were exhausted and so things were even harder to find.

As time has gone on, I have not had a lot of time to spend in The Palace, the painter arrived to paint inside the house and he wanted it almost empty so that he could paint through easily..... Oh Oh! where do we put all the stuff???????? Yep you guessed it.... The Palace. So I had no hope of getting in there to do anything.

Well it is almost Christmas and I still have not got the Palace in order, will I ever? As Gerard said in Rowville "I am always tidying up the workroom!" So now the time has come I need to pull up my socks, stop playing computer games til 4 in the morning! Get some energy from somewhere, I suppose I should give up chocolate and all that stuff and eat veggies etc. Go and do some water aerobics and walking. Well yes I have been walking, but my heel has been giving me problems for about 3 months now and still not right..

So I have started going in there for short periods, only problem is I get side tracked each time I go in there and then go off at another tangent....

I have Christmas cards to get done for this year, no not yet.. Well at least yesterday when I went in to do some sorting, I ended up deciding what sort of card I will do and getting the card etc together, brought it into the house to cut!!!! as there is not room in the palace!!!! Well it is still sitting there. I just cannot seem to get a couple of whole days together and just concentrate on it...

I need to get it sorted into some sort of order as I am having some girls around in early January, so I cannot let them see it like it is now can I??? Even though I will put some pics on the blog of the mess etc.

I have put a couple of curtains at the window for a bit of privacy and have also designed some pull along blinds to cover up the laser lite as the brightness is fading all of my paper and card.

I have had them made now for about a month and still not up as I have been doing the usual thing!!! Waiting for someone to help me.

NO MORE!!!!!! I went to Mitre 10 today and bought myself a drill!!! So that I can put in screws by myself and remove them etc, I can drill big and little holes also as I have bought the necessary tools to go with it. So now I can also drill a larger hole through a panel of wood to thread some Christmas lights into the cat's area!!!! Yes we do have a drill, but it does not do anything special, like reverse and slow speed etc. So this is MY toy..... Will have to hide it in the Palace I think....

I have been invaded by ants something shocking, we must have our place on the biggest ant colony in the world. There is no food in the palace, but they come in and are all over the place. I did spray around all the corners of the floor when we put the carpet down, but it does not seem to make any difference. They were all over my newly acquired Printers type cabinet with drawers. Will talk about that later on with some pics too.

So now I had better get to and post some pictures from the beginning to almost the end!!!
