New Friends

We met Annette and Paul through "HERVEY" their dog, how else do you meet people in Paynesville? Where our house is situated you get to know the dog's name first before the owners always!! They lived three houses up on the other side of the road and were always taking Hervey out for walks. (They have since moved to their new house still in P/V but not as close :( ) He is a very active dog and very smoochy and friendly once he gets to know you, a bit shy at first. Anyway we have become good friends not only with Hervey but Annette and Paul as well of course! They introduced us to David who did the renovations to our place.

While discussing the renovations we wanted a "storage" type shed to keep all the "JUNK" one has and deciding on the position best suited for it! In the end it was to be built on the left hand side of the drive where we had some tall bushy-type trees that had to go! This was the best spot to put it as no permits and regulations were required so it worked out well and the easier way to do it! So then we needed to clear the area!! Paul offered his chain saw and his and Annette's services to help us clear the area. We had not decided on when it was to be done but when we came home from Bairnsdale the next day at lunchtime, the trees were no longer standing upright!!!!! When they offer to help there is no time wasted! Thanks so much guys it was such a great job well done! We did not realise how big an area there was there it really opened up the block.

Peter up the road took most of the wood and the left over crappy stuff went to the tip, the old trailer has well and truly earnt it's dues. I think the holden would know it's way to the tip by itself if it were a dog as the amount of times the tip was visited was a lot during the renovation period! David boarded up the area and then Gerard had the pulling out of roots and leveling off the area for the shed. We also got a tree root mulching guy out to get the trunk's mulched and dug out! After leveling the area off, Gerard then got some crushed rock to place on the area and then the walls of the shed were put up and then the concrete was poured and leveled off.

The hardest decision for the shed was the colour as it is a 6 x 4 metre shed which is not very small and inconspicuous. We agonised over the colour for ages as this colour was to be the colour of the house also and once chosen that was it. Well we decided on a "Blue Ridge" Colourbond roof and the walls "Paperbark". Yep I know it is nothing like "PURPLE"!!!!!!!! But at this stage it is still the shed for storing stuff and for Gerard to tinker in!

Paul measured up the area and made a large work bench to go across the width of the shed and a couple of pigeon holes for bits and pieces, HHHHMMMMMMPPPPPFFFFF!!!!! Pigeon Holes!!!!!!!!!! Not fair! I could do with some pigeon holes in my work room which at this stage is the second bedroom. At first it was in the loungeroom!!!!

It had been jokingly bantered around that I should have the shed for my craft stuff!!!!! But got no further. The concrete set, the roof went on and Paul's workbench and p[pigeon holes were in place.

As time went on and David's time was running out, he, Paul and I were talking about what a waste of a huge space for storing our stuff and me having such a small room for my stuff that was bulging at the seams and would never have got all my stuff in that small room anyway!! So that was when SERIOUS talk got happening about me having "The Shed" as my work place!!! So then what would Gerard do for tinkering and storing our "stuff"??? David came up with the brilliant idea of filling in the carport seeing there was a roof already it just needed two sides filled in and a side door and a rolladoor and "BINGO" a large enough shed, garage to store stuff like the mower, odd boxes, bikes etc and also room for "Harry Holden" and the work bench!!! Notice I did not mention the Pigeon holes!!!!!! Yep I have got them!!!!! Yay another win to me!!!!! Anyway the boys sort of "worked" on Gerard having summed up that he is a bit of a tidy freak, well more than a tidy freak really and suggested to him "how about we make the carport your garage, storing, working place and Jill have the big shed for her work room and that way the second bedroom can then be a "real" spare bedroom and all her stuff can be out of the house"!!!!!!! Subtle enough????? Yeah well it worked!!!!!

THE MAGIC WORDS "JILL'S CRAFT STUFF OUT OF THE HOUSE AND THE HOUSE WILL BE TIDIER"!!!!!!! binggggggg That did it!!
